Liberal Party of Canada - Ontario Campaign

During the national election of 2004 in Canada, the Liberal Party of Canada contacted motion4.com for assistance with their election correspondence using email. Although the system was not complete, it was ready to be put to the test. As the election continued to unfold, so did the possibilities of the Outbound Email System.

First, the system was used only for communication with the M.P.s, campaign CFOs, and strategy staff. Then, after a few days and with staff trained, the party started to use the system to communicate with the media, doing all email press releases with the system. At that time there were two accounts being used for just over 1200 recipients.

The battle was about to begin. The Liberal party then decided that they would use the Outbound Email System to communicate with all party members across Canada, over 25,000 members. There were two hick-ups in the send engine in the first day which were corrected within hours of identification. After that, the system was used daily for major communication without incident. The Outbound Email System was now battle tested and effective.

How motion4.com helped:

  • Designed the newsletter format for Liberal party mailings.
  • Trained 3 election staff on how to use the system for all communication.
  • Provided resources for daily mailings of up to 30,000 subscribers for over a month.

Because of the efforts of motion4.com, the Liberal party of Canada was able to communicate their message to a great many more people which may have had a great impact on their victory in the election.
